verif.ai was founded on a simple belief: that every patient deserves to know their medical records are accessed only by the people who need them, for the right reasons. And that healthcare organisations deserve the tools to guarantee it.
We built verif.ai because we saw the gap first-hand.
The idea for verif.ai did not come from a whiteboard. It came from years of working inside large, complex health systems — leading digital transformation programmes, navigating Information Governance challenges at scale, and watching organisations struggle to monitor staff access to patient records in any meaningful way.
The tools available were either too blunt — simple rule-based alerts that generated more noise than signal — or too expensive and inaccessible for most NHS Trusts and regional health systems. Meanwhile, the regulatory stakes were rising. Patients were increasingly aware of their rights. Regulators were moving from guidance to enforcement. And the volume of electronic patient record access was growing every year.
We knew there had to be a better way. So we built one.
verif.ai combines clinical domain expertise with state-of-the-art AI to deliver something that has not existed before: a compliance monitoring platform that genuinely understands the difference between normal clinical access and something that needs to be investigated. One that works at the scale of a modern health system. And one that puts meaningful, actionable intelligence in the hands of the people responsible for protecting patient privacy.
Founded by healthcare insiders. Built for compliance professionals.

Dan brings more than two decades of experience leading digital transformation across large, complex healthcare organisations. As Chief Digital Information Officer and Senior Information Risk Officer for the Northern Ireland Health and Social Care system, he led the deployment of Epic across all hospital Trusts in Northern Ireland — one of the most significant EHR implementations in the UK. That experience gave him a direct and detailed understanding of the access governance challenge that verif.ai is built to solve. Dan leads commercial strategy, client relationships, and governance at verif.ai.

Michael is a practising Consultant Nephrologist and leading academic in clinical informatics, with deep research expertise in health data. Michael is the chair of the Northern Ireland Information Governance Advisory Council. His work on understanding clinical behaviour patterns forms the scientific foundation of verif.ai's detection models. Michael ensures that the verif.ai platform remains at the cutting edge of what is technically possible — and clinically meaningful.

Patient privacy is not a feature we bolt on. It is the reason we exist. Every decision we make — about what data we process, how we store it, and who can access it — starts from a position of protecting the people whose records are in the system.

Healthcare is not like any other sector. Clinical workflows are complex, role-dependent, and contextual in ways that generic monitoring tools fundamentally misunderstand. verif.ai is designed by people who understand healthcare — and that shows in the quality of what it detects.

We believe healthcare organisations should be able to explain every decision their compliance tools make. verif.ai surfaces clear, evidence-based reasoning behind every alert — so your team always knows why something was flagged, and can stand behind every investigation they conduct.
Whether you are exploring options for your organisation, looking for a research collaboration, or just want to understand more about what we are building.
